Gypsum Ponds State Wildlife Area is approximately 90 acres of marshland and ponds along the Eagle River offering the following recreational activities:

  • Fishing: rainbow trout and cutthroat trout. A valid hunting or fishing license is required.
  • Hunting: Waterfowl. A valid hunting/waterfowl license is required.
  • Recreation: hunting, fishing, bird watching, and wildlife viewing.

Restrictions:

  1. Closed between sunset and sunrise except for hunters and anglers. 
  2. Camping, fires, glass containers, boat launching and takeouts prohibited.
  3. Dogs prohibited March 15 to June 15 to protect nesting waterfowl. Dogs prohibited on eastern ponds except when used in waterfowl hunting.
  4. Field trails may be authorized in August and September.
